Srixon Z-Star Pure White Golf Balls

I recently bought the new 2011 Srixon Z-Star Pure White golf balls. I was impressed with them right from my first shot. They have a slightly softer feel than the old Z-Star balls. The performance is similar to a Pro V1, but maybe a little firmer which I think is a good thing for those who want feel and control combined with a little more distance. The durability is very good and once again Srixon have a challenger in the premium ball market. The 2011 Srixon Z-Star golf ball is differentiated from the old version as it has dots between the name and the arrows on the sidestamp. They last longer than any other premium ball I highly recommend them.

Odyssey D.A.R.T Putter

I was watching the golf on the T.V and saw some of the top pros using the new Odyssey D.A.R.T putter. I was very interested in this putter. When it comes to putting I need as much help as I can get. I tried the putter out for the first time the other day and I saw a big diffrence. If you are like me and have trouble lining up your putts then this will really help you point correctly at the target as the long clear white and black lines draw you eye through the ball to the hole. As alignment aids go it is a little more in your face than some, but it certainly does the job. All the Odyssey D.A.R.T putters come with the excellent White Ice insert which I feel has just the right blend of firmness, forgiveness and, most importantly, sound feedback to enable you to get the most from your putter.

PowaKaddy Sport Lithium Brake Electric Trolley

I have recently bought the new PowaKaddy Sport Lithium brake golf trolley. You can see a big difference with this trolley from any other PowaKaddy have brought out before. They have put new features on the trolley the handle and display controls, which are significantly better than the FWII model it replaces. The handle is narrower front to back and more sculpted to fit your hand and the re-introduction of the speed control roller makes it much easier to control the speed, whether you are left or right handed. It is still much easier to use and the motor is very quiet.

The PowaKaddy Sport this comes with a lightweight low profile lithium battery that enables you to fold the trolley down with the battery in place, which saves space and time, although you still have to unfold the trolley to get it out at the other end to charge it. However it is smaller and much lighter to carry around than the lead acid battery, looks better and I got 36 holes from one charge. It is more expensive, but if you can afford it, the lithium option for the PowaKaddy Sport Brake golf trolley is well worth the extra.

I have to say this trolley is the best Powakaddy have brought out.The PowaKaddy Sport Lithium Brake will be an excellent investment for your game, whatever your level.

The New Adidas Tour 360 4.0 design continues to impress me. Thanks to the heel design that gives fantastic stability in all conditions. For me they are the most sporty of the adidas range.

I recently purchesed Crown tees to try. The performance and durablity was fantastic. The ground was very firm where we played, and I went 5 rounds without one breaking. I now prefer them instead of Pro v's. They give u great distance off the tee but even better control around the greens and last longer. I recently pucrchased Wilson Staff Di11 irons from Affordablegolf. The irons were a delight to hit and the distance and forgiveness I was getting was very good. They are easy to hit and I feel they give me more confidence every time I use them.

With the shorter irons, particularly the sand iron I feel it is a little square in appearance and with a smaller cavity on them, the feel was not quite as good as the longer irons. The Uniflex SL-95 steel shaft felt impressive as it adjusts to your swing speed and should make selecting the right shaft easier for the average golfer. Overall, I was very impressed with the Wilson Di11 irons and for the money they are excellent value for mid handicap golfers. I got custom fitted at Affordablegolf and I feel by doing this it has change my game.

I recently purchased Callaway's New X Series Jaws CC wedges they come with a new groove design, new low-bounce options, and new finish opions.

The "CC" in the X Series Jaws CC denote the new grooves, called CC grooves by the company, that Callaway says greatly increases spin while conforming to the new condition of competition. The "CC grooves" are tightly spaced with 21 of them on the clubface, six more grooves than on a traditional wedge face. They come with either a Slate or Brushed Chrome finish I went for the Chrome finish to match my set.
The new bounce options, designed to increase versatility from firm and tight playing conditions, include 0 bounce in the 58 degree and 60 degree wedges, and new lower bounce options have been added for the 52degree, 54degree and 56degree wedges, too. The wedges all have Callaway's C-Grind sole.

I have the 60degree with 0 bounce and 56 degree with 12 bounce wedges they have to be the best wedges I have ever used.

I have changed my golf studs over to spikes for the winter. When the ground is wet, it can be hard at times to keep your grip. When I changed my studs, I could feel the difference straight away, when walking on the fairway and on to slopes. I could feel more confident when hitting shots and not slipping.

I really recommend changing your studs over in the winter months, as most importantly spikes give you better grip to prevent you slipping when the ground is wet and frosty.

The carry and distance with these balls are much better than you would expect. It actually went a long way yet still feels soft.

I was at Gleneagles for the Johnnie Walker Championship. I was watching Europe’s top golfers and I went to the practice putting green to see whom I could recognise.

I noticed that four top players were using a putter training aid. When I got closer, I could see they were using the Yes! Putting Mirror.

When I got home, I got the same Yes! Putting Mirror I saw the pros using. I wanted to try it out for myself.

It is easy to use, and you can put tees in each corner to keep the mirror steady. The mirror makes you keep a steady stroke through to the hole.

After an hour on the practice green, I felt more confident. I feel it has stopped me from pulling putts and if I keep using the mirror I feel I will hole more putts.

Here at Affordable Golf we have now installed the world’s first wireless launch monitor called FlightScope at our East Kilbride store. It is a state of the art indoor 3D ball flight and club tracking device.

FlightScope will be used in store for custom fitting and club recommendation. Our AA PGA Professional Andrew Macpherson will use FlightScope for golf instruction.

The first time I used FlightScope it was amazing. I hit the ball on to the screen; and can see the actual ball flight and the shape of the shot. I had a round of golf with a friend of mine who had been playing with 15 year old blades,which have had their day. I know technology has moved on.He found these clubs a pleasure to hit.

First to the woods, the driver has a 460cc head which even on off centre hits still goes some distance.
The 3 and 5 woods are double the size of his original woods and went about 25 yards further.

The Stuburt Helium Pro shoe was so popular in 2008 that they brought out a new Helium pro 11 in 2009 and somehow they have made it even better!

The shoe is very stylish and is offered in so many colour options that it is appealing to all age groups of golfers.

I found the Helium Pro II to be slightly more cushioned on the sole which protected my heels a lot more. There was a great deal of support in the shoe which gave me confidence whilst walking in all weather conditions.

We are delighted to announce that after a 10 year absence Paul Lawrie has returned to the brand that helped him to the 1999 Open Championship, Paul started playing the FG irons in August last year and was very keen to become a WS player again.

In addition Swede Fredrik Ohlsson has also joined the 2010 Wilson Tour staff, joining Padraig Harrington, Ricky Barnes, Jose Manuel Lara and Anthony Wall.

All players will be playing the FG irons.
